How to store fruits and vegetables

Do not store fruits and vegetables such as cucumbers and tomatoes in the refrigerator; as they will lose strength, flavor and vitamins.

Store unwashed carrots, peppers, lettuce, radishes, spinach broccoli, cauliflower, sweet peppers in the refrigerator. If they are left out of the refrigerator, they will lose moisture quickly and become wrinkled and rubbery.

Potatoes, garlic and onions store separately in cool, dark and dry place, out of direct sunlight. Air flow is very important for them. Place and store them in a plastic bag with holes in it, a basket or a ventilated box.

One trick for storing sweet onion is using pantyhose or nylon stockings. Put an onion into a stocking and knot it off. Repeat the same way with other onions knotting the nylon, so they are all separated and do not touch each other.

Apples, peaches, apricots, nectarines store in a cool dry place. Do not refrigerate.

Too much fruits and vegetables can be stored in the freezer. Cut everything in small pieces and place them in airtight containers or plastic freezer bags for use later.

To save your money the best thing you can do is to buy in smaller quantities and use them sooner.
