Never put hot food in the refrigerator

Never put hot food in the refrigerator. First cool the food and after transfer it into a fresh plastic container. The fridge is made to keep stuff cool. If you put hot food in the refrigerator, it will have to work much harder to cool it, burn off a couple of hundred watts and wear down the compressor unit faster. Cooling outside can save you some money.
